Serving Our Neighbors

I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me, I was naked and you gave me clothing, I was sick and you took care of me… Matthew 25:35-36

United Methodist Committee of Relief

UMCOR  is a ministry of The United Methodist Church whose goal is to assist the most vulnerable persons affected by crisis or chronic need.  Pflugerville FUMC  actively participates in UMCOR efforts including on-site disaster assistance and financial support through One Great Hour of Sharing.

United Methodist Volunteers in Mission

UMVIM is designed to provide Christians an opportunity to offer their skills and talents for service in short term assignments.  Their work includes construction and renewing of mission facilities, teaching, witnessing, conducting medical clinics, conducting Bible study or Bible School for children, and serving in disaster relief efforts around the world.  Pflugerville FUMC members volunteer for UMVIM mission trips both locally and globally.

Habitat for Humanity

Habitat for Humanity is dedicated to ending the cycle of poverty housing and promotes the deeply held belief that everyone deserves a decent, affordable place to live.  Pflugerville FUMC participates locally with Austin Habitat for Humanity.

The Early Response Team (ERT) arm of UMCOR responds to natural or civil disasters of such magnitude that they overwhelm a community’s ability to recover on its own.  Pflugerville FUMC  ERT volunteers are among the first to arrive at disaster sites to assist victims and distribute ERT-prepared Cleaning Supply Buckets.  Pflugerville FUMC outfitted more than 100 buckets in 2016.

Pflugerville UMC supports missionary efforts in the African Congo through the Miracle Offering.  We send vitamins and immunizations for babies, sewing machines and material for women, and Bibles for all in the Congo area to help local residents become self-sustaining.

Pflugerville FUMC Reaching Out

Pflugerville FUMC encourages our congregation to reach out and service our community and offer a number of of opportunities.

  • Sole Hope offers hope, healthier lives, and freedom from foot-related diseases through education, jobs, and medical relief.  Pflugerville UMC prepares denim uppers for shoes that are combined with soles made from locally recycled tires in Uganda to guard against foot parasites.

  • Kairos Prison Ministry is a lay-led, interdenominational Christian ministry in which men and women volunteers bring Christ's love and forgiveness to prisoners and their families.
